Just like the short-lived Firefly TV show from which Google Wave derives its name, it seems that Wave has similarly been cancelled. The amazing new communication paradigm seems to have been too have been much of a shift to garner the approval of its master, as has been announced in the official Google Blog.
I’m sad about this, not so much because I had come to rely heavily on Wave, but because it was a purely beautiful concept, a wonderful idea that has been tossed aside seemingly for the simple fact that it was too outside of the average person’s realm of immediate acceptance (oh, was that snobby, arrogant? yeah? ok, so be it).
So, farewell wave. Maybe they’ll make a movie based off you.
The programmer, like the poet, works only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff. He builds his castles in the air, from air, creating by exertion of the imagination. Few media of creation are so flexible, so easy to polish and rework, so readily capable of realizing grand conceptual structures.
To put it rather bluntly, normal people do not compose – or they compose like Carl Czerny or Murzio Clementi. You need a certain amount of openness and non-conformism to be creative. People who are considered mad have not been taught by life to wall up their openness and they have more direct contact to their unconscious.

Unwavering consistency to a limited set of possibilities is the crutch of a weak mind; the willingness to carve out facets from a defined system is the sign of a stronger mind recognizing that system’s interaction with the sublime.
If an interface is both simple and logical enough to handle the most common use situations elegantly it is likely also flexible enough to handle the uncommon 10%.
Providing access to the internals of an API as a way for the programmer to “have more control” is really just an acknowledgement of laziness or incompetence on the part of the architect.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma –which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
